Yanks To Land Tejada?

The Yankees currently are trying to land a new first baseman in the form of Mike Lowell.

ESPN is reporting the Yanks have a deal on the table for four years worth between 56 and 60 million dollars.

Lowell of course has expressed interest in the Phillies and ESPN has reported the Red Sox offered their World Series MVP a three year 40 million dollar deal.

If Lowell declines to return to the Yankees where he started his career, the Yankees can always target Miguel Tejada again. The Yankees had their eye on him as a possible replacement for A-Rod who now appears to be a short way away from dotting the I's and crossig the T's on a new 10 year deal with the Yanks.

If the Yanks were willing to move Lowell from third to first and were willing to move Tejada from short to third, why not just move Tejada from short to first? After all, it is basically the same situation that Lowell would be in and Tejada would probably be willing to make the move since he been disgruntled over the losing ways of the Orioles and wants to be on a winning team.

The Orioles on the other hand, according to ESPN Insider on November 9th, are said to have their eye on Kyle Farnsworth with both their closer Chris Ray and back-up closer and set-up man Danys Baez probably each sidelined for the entire 2008 season with elbow injuries.

Farnsworth on the other hand is in the last year of his contract and can be a one year rental for the Orioles until they regain Baez and Ray in 2009.
