Glavine To End Career On A Good Note

Glavine walked off the mound at Shea Stadium after one third of an inning against the Florida Marlins allowing seven earned runs and recieved some boos from the home crowd.

The Mets went on to lose 8-1 and the Phillies won their game claiming the National League East and bumping the Mets from the playoffs.

Glavine seemed undecided as of to what his future would hold afterwords but said that this game would not factor into his decision.

He seemingly had two options other than retirement. Either he could accept a 13 million dollar option with the Mets for 2008, which he declined or he could and is looking at his first and former team; the Atlanta Braves.

ESPN the Insider has reported that the Braves have made a one year offer worth approximately seven million dollars. The Mets who also likely wish to keep the veteran as part of their five man rotation will probably make a counter offer.

Glavine ended an up and down 2007 season going 13-8 with a 4.45 ERA, earning his 300th career victory victory along the way after what seemed like an infinite amount of attempts.

Glavine started his career back in 1987 as part of the Atlanta Braves and his family lives in Georgia making the Braves possibly the best fit for the probably future Hall of Famer.

Glavine has combined career stats over the past two decades with the Braves from 1987-2002 and the Mets from 2003-2007. posting an impressive win and loss record going 303-199 with a 3.51 ERA.
