As Posada started the season, he had a bit of a shoulder ailment that stopped him from being able to throw comfortably. The Yankees however didn't place him on the DL. While Posada was healing Jose Molina took over getting a few clutch hits and continuing to play great defense.
In a bit of irony Molina got injured himself and the Yankees brought
up veteran catcher, Chad Moeller from Triple A (right). He to was know for his defense however, he also batted .350 with a homer and three RBI's.

So, in the absence of Posada, the Yankees really didn't suffer too much if at all. Now, Jeter and A-Rod may be different stories, or where they? When Jeter went down with a leg injury, the Yankees again went to their farm system in the form of highly thought of Alberto Gonzalez. He has a very solid glove, which is what he is known for and has sported an impressive .333 batting average.
Now, A-Rod has gone down with a similar injury. Morgan Ensberg has taken over thus far making some nice plays at the hot corner while batting .300 with a homerun and three RBI's. It is unknown exactly when A-Rod will be back, but in the mean time, Ensberg and Gonzalez will likely fill out the remaining couple of days for A-Rod. While they may not have an impressive pedigree like A-Rod, they are not a bad couple of players to use to back up the reigning AL MVP.
Lastly, Andy Pettitte actually started the season missing his first start and Joba Chamberlain missed a fe
w games while tending to his ailing father who is now in better condition. However, youngster Jonathan Albaladejo (left) made quite an impression in their absence pitching 5.2 innings, pitching to a 3.18 ERA, while walking just one a fanning seven batters.

Unfortunately for Albaladejo, the Yankees needed some fresh arms, sending him back down to the minors and Moeller will likely be sent back to Triple A, assuming he clears waivers, which he probably won't after his impressive stint with the Yankees, as Molina and Posada are back in action.
