A New Season - And More Importantly - A New Begining

With the Mitchell Report and steroid allegations hopefully behind everyone, most trades and free agent signing complete, there is one thing to focus on; a new season.

A new season marks new beginning for every team. Every team is even playing, at least for a day, starting at 0-0. Some teams will play to their potential, some won't, and maybe there will be a surprise team to show their faces.

It is also a time to see if the off-season decisions will pay off. Will the Yankees or Red Sox regret not trading for Johan Santana? Will the Mets regret giving up their youngsters for Santana, and will Santana be the difference this year? Who will wish they had a power hitter in the middle of their order and regret not signing Barry Bonds? Who will wish they went more aggressively after that free agent they had their eyes on but lost out on? The season is when this all plays out.

Every team has something to prove, every team has a clean slate, every team has one goal; a World Series Championship. Well, for one day, or even a month or so, every team can keep that goal in mind.

Now, in about a week, we can all see what happens to all of our favorite teams and players and all the specualtion will come to an end.
