Jones Finds New Home - Although It May Just Be A Temporary Fit

After the Dodgers have seemingly just been watching all the big names and big bats go to any and all other teams but theirs, the Dodgers finally landed Andruw Jones.

Jones’ agent, Scott Boras was looking for more of a long term deal worth in the vicinity of $100 million.

No many teams were taking bites at him however as other better and cheaper freea gents were out there.

Torii Hunter signed a five year $90 million deal with the Angels, but eyes were also closely focused in on Aaron Rowand, and Mike Cameron by many teams.

The reason Rowand probably stayed put was because he has been insisting on a five year deal which no one has yet to offer. Mike Cameron’s possibility of moving probably ended once his name got linked to steroids.

The Dodgers however came to terms with Jones on a two year deal worth $36.2 million contract.

However, the 30 year old had to settle after possibly his worst year in his career 11 year career. He batted .222 although he did still manage to smash 26 homers and drive in 94 RBI’s.

Jones also did not bring his hitting woes into the field as he landed his 10th gold glove award.

Jones likely settled for a short term deal so he can put up some good numbers over the next couple seasons and then can once again pursue a long term deal with Boras a couple winters from now.

In the mean time, Jones brings his golden hands over to the Dodgers and will add some much needed power to their line-up.
