Teams Should Take Closer Look at Dunn

With the trade deadline just about a week and a half away, there is one man who is not getting nearly as much attention from other teams as he really should; Adam Dunn.

When a person looks at the Reds' Dunn, many see a player who has great power but a low average and strikes out often.

What ever happened to the old baseball adage that a walk is as good as a hit?

Yes, Dunn is a career .247 hitter and is actually a bit below that so far this season - and yes, Dunn has struck out over 100 times already this season, however, he also has a career .381 On Base Percentage (OBP) and has an OBP of .388 so far this season.

He plays a somewhat under-average left field but his offense make up for it and if an American League team lands him, they can avoid his weakness and drop him into the DH role.

Along with Dunn's nearing .400 OBP, he is also on pace to nail 45 dingers and drive in over 100 as well as draw well over 100 walks, with 75 already.

He can easily be placed as any teams clean-up hitter. With the trade deadline fast approaching, any team who needs a big bat should really look past his sub-par defense and tendency to strike out and realize he is not just a power hitter, but a real threat in the center of any line-up.
